VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS 340 Blog Entry 1: Editorial Design Work in Progress Check-In

Editorial Design: Progress Check-In

For this assignment, we were tasked to create a magazine spread advertising marathon runners. The text and photos were pre-selected and we had the freedom to design our editorials however we wanted. For mine I definitely went with the "less is more" approach and kept the layout to a color palette that reflected the same color scheme as the front cover. I am currently making the edits on this design right now based off the critique that I received before from my peers. One of them in particular really didn't care for my logo covering the front of my runner by I won't change it, I will just lower the opacity of the image so the font pops better in the front. I don't believe it visually distracting either and believe it fits the artistic direction I am going for.

I will also post the final results based off the next critique, I am currently making sure I have all the necessary adjustments made so I can receive direction on where I can improve my editorial design further. I will be sure to make another post on the final results and the changes I made. Some of my goals are to ensure I am fulfilling all the criteria needed for this assignment such as having all the text from the article on every page, better executed call outs, and a layout that makes everything fit together smoothly. I look forward to showing the results so stay tuned!
