For my final event, I attended the 2024 Bulldog Pitch Competition that was held in the James E. Proctor Building at Bowie State University on May 2nd, 2024. The primary goal of this event was to present the finalist of students who would showcase a presentation on stage.
The event was hosted by the Entrepreneurship Living and Learning Center and the event held up to $20,000 in cash prizes. This was a great event to witness because each student who participated all found a problem in their respective industries they planned to solve with their business ideas. I even got to witness one of my classmates compete and reach the finals with her business idea. She designed “K.T.V,” which is a production company seeking to create a program that makes photography and videography processing more convenient for consumers. I believe this is a strong approach to those aspiring to get into visual media but face difficulty in acquiring the proper tools for making quality videos. I do recall participating in a summer internship that was similar to this program but wasn't competition oriented so perhaps I'll try and compete in something like this in the future. I also believe I resonated with her business idea more than the other pitches I saw because I am seeking to start a production company as well.
Overall, I still loved the business ideas showcased by the other competitors and I will ensure that my future business plans also seek to solve an issue as well. The end of the event even passed out food and snacks which was help welcoming.
